Invite the divine wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita into your home with this meticulously handcrafted Kondapalli Geethopadesam Tableau. This vibrant masterpiece captures the iconic moment from the Mahabharata where Lord Krishna, acting as the divine charioteer (Sarathi), imparts sacred guidance to the warrior-prince Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.
The Story: A Divine Dialogue
This tableau is a profound representation of the Krishna-Arjuna Ratha (chariot). It features Lord Krishna (depicted in celestial blue) steering the chariot, while Arjuna (in yellow) stands poised with his bow, the Gandiva. It symbolizes the triumph of righteousness (Dharma) and serves as a spiritual reminder of the eternal bond between the divine guide and the seeker.
Exquisite Artisan Craftsmanship
- Heritage Lineage: Carved by the Aryakshatriya artisans of Kondapalli, whose 400-year-old tradition is rooted in the divine teachings of Sage Muktharishi.
- Eco-Friendly Material: The set is hand-carved from Tella Poniki (White Sander), a rare and lightweight softwood native to the Kondapalli Hills.
- The Makku Technique: Each intricate part — the chariot's canopy, the wheels, the horse, and the divine figures — is carved separately and joined using makku, a traditional adhesive made from tamarind seed powder and sawdust.
- Hand-Painted Brilliance: Finished with a matte, hand-painted coat using vibrant pigments and vegetable dyes, each figure displays the lifelike expressions and dynamic postures characteristic of authentic Kondapalli art.
Product Usage & Golu Displays
- Mythological Tier Essential: A prestigious addition to Bommala Koluvu (Golu) displays during Navratri and Sankranti. It is traditionally placed on the middle tiers reserved for mythological epics and divine narratives.
- Spiritual Gifting: An ideal gift for housewarmings, weddings, or milestones, representing guidance, protection, and wisdom.
Care Instructions
To preserve the intricate craftsmanship of this GI-tagged heritage item:
- Cleaning: Gently dust with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Avoid using alcohol or bleach-based cleaners as they can damage the protective coating.
- No Water: Do not submerge in water or use wet wipes. Excessive moisture causes the softwood to warp and the traditional biological adhesives to fail.
- Storage: Keep in a dry location away from direct sunlight to prevent the colors from fading and the wood from cracking.
As a 100% handmade product, your set may feature slight variations in color and carving, ensuring that your piece of Kondapalli's spirit is truly one-of-a-kind.
